Kansas City Chiefs State They Are Aware of Domestic Violence Claims Involving Wide Receiver the Athlete

The NFL franchise issued a statement Wednesday night confirming they are aware of claims of abuse circulated in online accounts by a ex-partner of wide receiver the athlete and had been in contact with the league office.

The organization omitted the name of Rice specifically in their announcement and noted they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Claims Shared on Social Media

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who likewise did not name the athlete by name, posted a set of images on Instagram that seemed to depict signs of physical abuse. Jones stated the person involved was the father of her children, and it is known she has kids with the football player, whom the team selected in the 2023 draft.

Police Reports Reportedly Unavailable

No police reports were available in the Kansas City suburb where the incident is said to have taken place.

Rice's Prior Off-Field Troubles

Rice missed the first six games of this season due to an NFL suspension for his involvement in instigating a crash on a Texas roadway that resulted in multiple people injured. He was given a month of incarceration and five years’ probation after entering a guilty plea to felony charges.

On the field, he finished the season with 53 receptions for 571 yards and five TDs as the Chiefs finished 6-11 and missed the playoffs for the first occasion in a ten-year span.
